Maple is as sweet as the syrup you put on your waffles. And Maple's fur has all of the shades of nature in autumn- cream and fawn and chocolate brown. Unfortunately Maple is also as shy as a rabbit in the fall, looking for a place to hide in the rustling leaves. Maple was found outside as a pregnant mama cat. We don't know her past but her experiences with people clearly left her frightened and timid. In her foster home Maple was a great mama, being brave for her kittens. However Once they were weaned and Maple was on her own she retreated, hiding. Never aggressive, Maple was simply frozen, more winter than fall.
Now at the shelter, Maple still tries to hide, curled into the corner of her condo, peeping out at you like the woodland creature she sometimes resembles. Maple can learn to trust though. Spend time with her and she starts to blossom. Maple will purr softly, nuzzle your hand for more petting and roll over to let you pet her tummy. Talk to her and Maple will move closer, looking for a connection. Maple needs an experienced cat person who will work with her; someone who sees that in Maple's hopeful green eyes there is the promise of spring.
