What is an exceptional cat? Well an exceptional cat is one that due to no fault of his own could spend a lot of time at our shelter looking for a home.
A lot of people want kittens or young cats. That means a cat that is 8 or 9 years old could sit in our shelter for 6 months to a year, waiting for a home. And for no reason other than he is not young. But a cats average life span is 15 to 20 years. Some of our best, sweetest, most loving cats that would make wonderful companions and lap cats are 8 or 9 years old.
FIV+ cats - these guys really get a bum rap. FIV in a cat is not the same as HIV in a person, although this is what many people think. Most FIV+ cats have the same expected life span as any other cat. There is no medication needed. FIV+ cats only require that they be kept indoors at all times and be fed a good quality diet. Truly, our FIV+ cats are wonderful cats with big hearts and great personalities. There is no reason to be afraid of them. These cats are bypassed all the time.
Other cats may have a medical problem that can be treated easily. Many people want young, healthy cats so they have no worries. And many cats may just need something as small as one pill a day, but they are overlooked because of this.
Exceptional cats need exceptional people who truly want to save a life and enhance their own life 10 times over . Just because a cat is not cute, young or healthy, doesn't mean he should be overlooked. Many other cats have big hearts, and just want to be loved and have a good home. Could you be the person he is waiting for?
Below are our exceptional cats that would love to come home with you.
