Some cats arrive at POA equipped with lots of background information about their former owners and living situations. Other cats are a mystery, coming to us with little more than “my friend's friend said this cat's been hanging around, and it seems like a nice cat, so we thought maybe you could help.” Abby was in the second group. She is indeed a nice cat. She's a lovely brown tiger, slim and sleek. Day by day, she is revealing more about herself to us.

Here's what we know so far. Sweet Abby is friendly and curious, especially with visitors. As soon as you open her cage, she's right there at the front to meet you. She may push her head into your hand for petting, or she may let you make the first move. So far, Abby has let us know that she prefers to be petted on her head and neck, but she's open to a bit of gentle petting along her side. She also lets visitors know when she's had enough petting, politely but firmly.

Our best estimate is that Abby is three years old. This makes her a perfect age for someone who's looking for a younger cat who likes to play. Abby definitely enjoys her playtime. She'll bat at a wand toy and watch the laser light intently. So far, it seems as if her favorite toys are the stuffed ones that she can grab and pounce on and kick and chew, so if you want to win her heart, a big stuffed mouse is likely to be a good start.

We haven't known Abby long enough to know whether she likes other cats. Based on what she's shown us so far, we think she'd probably be happiest in a loving family with older children who will respect her boundaries.
One thing we're certain of: this little beauty is a treasure waiting to be discovered by the right adopter.
