In the clearing stands a boxer, and a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him
'Til he cried out in his anger and his shame;
I am leaving, I am leaving, but the fighter still remains.
Sometimes a cat reminds you of someone you knew. Three year old Carmine is a big guy that is handsome in a rugged, world weary way. A look that speaks of some hard times and life that required him to be tougher than he is…that he ever intended to be. Being out on the streets requires a harder exterior to survive. Carmine grew his tough shell, because it was self preservation. What never changed though was Carmine’s spirit. He has a sparkle in his eyes, that speaks of underlying warmth, gentleness, and dare we say humor.
Carmine gave a visible, full body sigh of relief when he came to the shelter. Like coming home. Carmine is a good boy who enjoys attention and the company of people that love him. Carmine might remind you of someone you knew too. Someone who deserved more chances and a better life. That sweet softness on the inside now out and on full display. Carmine is ready to come home.
Carmine is FIV-positive, but they can still live a long and healthy life.
