Charlie

Name: Charlie

Age: 7 months

Breed: DSH

Sex: Male

Charlie is a very sweet and calm young cat. He doesn’t ask for much attention unless he is hungry, otherwise he is very content just being by your side or following you around the house.  He likes to sit next you on the couch and sleep at the foot of the bed.  His favorite activity is playing fetch with a scrunched up post it note or hiding in empty boxes.

Charlie has tested positive for Feline Leukemia.  Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) is a retrovirus belonging to the coronavirus subfamily, which means it is a cancer-causing virus. FeLV can cause severe anemia and suppress the immune system, leaving the cat vulnerable to a variety of opportunistic diseases. FeLV is not transmissible to humans.

FeLV cats generally have a shortened lifespan.  A realistic expectation is 1-3 years. Charlie is currently in a loving foster home and is ready to move on to his forever home.  Cats with FeLV require routine vet care, a good diet, low stress, and lots of love.  Please keep him indoors to protect him from picking up any infection from outdoors.  Cats with FeLV are usually pretty healthy, until they aren’t.  If you are interested in providing a loving home to this handsome boy, please submit an application.  We will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
