Cowboy & Otis are a bonded pair and need to go home together.
There is nothing better than a friend, unless it is a friend with chocolate.”
~ Linda Grayson
Sweet, shy Otis might not expect his beloved pal Cowboy to bring chocolate (or the kitty equivalent), but there’s no question that these two beautiful boys are close friends. Otis is dark orange and white with golden-brown eyes that match his fur, while gray-and-white Cowboy is every bit as easy going as you might expect of a wrangler strolling into the saloon after roundup. Unlike Cowboy, Otis is a bit nervous, especially around strangers, and he requires his sweet buddy Cowboy to reassure him that the world is safe and kind. Luckily, Cowboy is happy to oblige, providing care and reassurance for his lifelong pal.
Unlike so many cats who come from heartbreaking circumstances, Cowboy and Otis understand love. They know what it means to have someone who cherishes them and will do anything for them, even when that means making the ultimate sacrifice of letting them go to a new home where they will be safe and protected and loved forever and ever. These three-year-old brothers came to POA from a home where they knew the security that comes with being loved that way, and it shows in their way of being with each other. In the unfamiliar world of the shelter, Cowboy is confident, content to be petted and fussed over, but he is happy to provide comfort and safety to shy Otis, reassuring him that the strange new world is a good one where people are kind. Both boys are mildly interested in toys at this point, but engaging in even more play time may be a wonderful way to bond with them. In the meantime, if you offer treats, you’ll be well on your way to winning the hearts of these exquisite boys. (Shy Otis even licked a volunteer’s finger after she gave him a treat!)
