A Damsel in distress?
Two-year-old Damsel has had a lot of drama in her short life. She has indeed been a damsel in distress. Her people moved away and left her behind, putting her outside where she didn’t have the first idea of how to take care of herself. Then after a kindly neighbor decided to take her in, Damsel did not do well with the other cats in the house. She was frightened and spent her days hiding.
Damsel is now safe with Protectors of Animals. She has been spayed and vaccinated. We have figured out her favorite food and toys. We are starting to see glimpses of Damsel in contentment.
It is easy to see that Damsel likes people. She loves to be petted and will roll around purring loudly. She will nudge your hand with your head if you try to stop too soon. She is a sweetheart.
This doesn’t mean that she is a pushover though. Damsel has faced a lot of uncertainty in her first two years, and she knows what she wants and what she doesn’t. Damsel would prefer a quieter home with a predictable routine. She is absolutely not a fan of change or chaos. And while we have not yet fully assessed her with other cats (that should happen this week), given what we have been told by the neighbor who took her in, we suspect she would be happiest as your one and only.
Like most of us, Damsel wants someone she can count on… someone who will love her and make sure that she is never abandoned again. She wants to sit in a sunny window, to curl up in bed next to her person at bedtime, and to know that come morning there will always be fresh water, tasty food, and maybe a quick game of chase the red dot. It may not seem like much to us, but to Damsel such a life would be everything she has ever dreamed of. And if you can offer her that life, we are certain that you will see a Damsel in happiness.
