Name: Delia
Age: 4 months
Breed: DLH
Sex: Female
When Delia was brought to POA she was in critical condition. She had one of the worst cases of flea anemia we’ve seen, and she was emaciated. Fleas feed on a pet’s blood and her red blood cell count was only about 1/3 of what it should have been. You could feel every bone in her body. She was quiet and frail, and we didn’t know if she would recover. Her first few days were the most difficult. Once she was considered stable, she still had many weeks of recovery ahead. She slowly became more alert and active. Over time she put on weight, but she had a lot of catching up to do. We are so lucky that she has a strong spirit because she pulled through and is the most beautiful young lady. Delia is a sweet little girl who loves other cats. She follows around the adult cats in her foster home and has adopted the younger fosters as her best friends. She loves to play on her own with a ball on a track or with her cat friends, but she is also content sitting on the sidelines just taking it all in sometimes. She can take a little longer to warm up to people because she has a calm quiet nature about her. She prefers her back pet, rather than her head. She seems to also be warming up to chin scratches too. She is on the shy side, but she can be won over with a wand toy or some Churu. She loves mealtimes and will come running for breakfast and dinner. Delia’s foster home has other cats which she loves, so a cat open to a new friend is a must for her forever home. She also lives with a dog. They co-exist well. She is not afraid of the dog, but she doesn’t show much interest in interacting with her (medium sized female dog).
