“What a lovebug!”
If you ask anybody at POA about big gorgeous Jethro, this is likely to be their response. Other comments include, “Such a sweet boy!”, “Isn’t he a darling?”, “Talk about a mellow dude!”, and “I could have combed him all day!” (Not that he needs a lot of combing—his thick black fur is medium-short—but Jethro adores being groomed. Hard to tell if it’s the feel of the comb or your attention that has him so enraptured. Both, we suspect.)
While anybody who meets Jethro is likely to fall in love with him, Jethro needs a very special adopter. You see, Jethro is a diabetic. He needs someone who is willing and able to commit to providing him with more care than the average cat requires. Right now, Jethro's diabetes is well-regulated, but he still needs daily insulin injections and special food as well as periodic vet checks to make sure everything’s going well. Considering that he’s only 10 years old and otherwise healthy, that’s likely to mean several years or more of schedules and prescriptions.
Falling in love with Jethro is easy. Committing to the kind of care he needs to stay healthy—that takes a special kind of adopter, one who understands that loving a cat like Jethro involves more than just long, lazy evenings cuddling with this great big furry sweetheart. If that’s you, we invite you to come in to chat with us and meet Jethro.
