Mufasa FIV+

We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats.  You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters.    Mufasa is FIV+.  Please see the info in his bio.

Smart. Stubborn. Stunning. Singular. Those are the words we would choose to describe 2 year old Mufasa.

Smart. Well, that word speaks for itself. We don’t know that Mufasa can do long division, but we would not be willing to swear he can’t. Want to try to trick him into going into his condo? That trick will work exactly once.  Then he is on to you. Food will generally work, but make no mistake he knows your plan and is only going along because it suits him to do so. In fact, it is entirely possible that Mufasa is playing the long con and all of this reluctance was actually designed to trick you into giving him extra snacks.

Stubborn. Mufasa knows what he likes and what he does not like, and he is not interested on hearing your opinion on the matter. Likes include toys, treats, laps and exploring. Dislikes include other cats, being picked up, and doing anything that isn’t his idea. This is Mufasa’s world and we all just live in it. He will probably be a benevolent overlord. Probably.

Stunning. Mufasa appears to be a Maine Coon or Maine Coon mix and everything about him is gorgeous. His fur. His eyes. His regal manner. This is a showstopper of a cat. A movie star. And doesn’t he just know it.

Singular. Mufasa wants to be your one and only. He has been very clear that no other cats will be tolerated. He is a singular fellow, and he likes it that way.

If you are looking for a second cat or for a sweet but not too bright companion, Mufasa is not your cat. But if you like character, charm, and good looks, Mufasa is the whole package.

FIV+ - Despite what many people think, cats with this condition can live perfectly long, happy, healthy lives. The Feline Immunodeficiency Virus is a slow virus that affects a cat’s immune system over a period of years. FIV is a cat-only disease and cannot be spread to humans or other non-felines. FIV cats most often live long, healthy, and relatively normal lives with no symptoms at all. FIV is not easily passed between cats. It cannot be spread casually - like in litter boxes, water and food bowls, or when snuggling and playing. It is rarely spread from a mother to her kittens. FIV+ cats should be kept as healthy as possible.  Keep them indoors and free from stress, feed them a high-quality diet, keep and treat any secondary problems as soon as they arise.

Adoptions are now done by appointment only. Email [email protected] for more info and an appointment. Adopters must have an approved application before scheduling an appointment.
