We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats. You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters.
Three-year-old Niko has a little moniker he repeats when he thinks others can’t hear him. “Niko es un muy guapo chico.” It rhymes and it’s true. Simple.
Niko is indeed very handsome. His tigery tabby markings make him look like a refined gentleman but there is a clownish side of Niko, too. He loves to play and fawn for people’s attention. On the spectrum of cat personalities, he would be considered an extrovert as he likes to be among the action and out among the people. He is decidedly not a fan of confinement and will yell his displeasure so adopters who are thinking they want a cat who will respect closed doors and off-limits spaces will want to skip over Niko on adoption day. For the other adopters who have a “mi casa es tu casa” attitude, Niko would love to make your acquaintance and freely roam your home.
Niko can also be cat selective when it comes to other male cats. Whether it’s a machismo thing and he wants to be the alpha cat or whether he feels threatened by other strong personalities, we aren’t sure. But we do think that Niko would do best as the only cat in his forever home. He promises to bring all the swagger and gravitas that he can to compensate for what he is sure will be no inconvenience in the long term.
Niko is FIV+ but that doesn’t mean that he cannot live a normal, healthy life. Our placement team can talk to you all about FIV and what it means.
