“Loneliness is a battle even queens must fight for themselves.”
~ Lady Whistledown (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story)
Sapphire is regal, the queen of her own world. She, and she alone, will decide who may touch her, what toy may provide some mild entertainment, or what treat may be deemed acceptable. Her dark silver fur gleams; her round golden eyes see all. It is easy to picture her perched on a red velvet cushion placed upon a throne of gold as her loyal subjects (humans) kneel reverently before her.
This exquisite seven-year-old girl has earned the right to reign over her own life. Too much of it has already been out of her control. When her person was no longer able to keep her, Sapphire was taken to the vet to be euthanized simply because she was unwanted. Fortunately, the vet refused, choosing instead to take her in and try to find her a new home. When the vet’s efforts failed, Sapphire came to POA.
Now, this rotund beauty is ready for a new home where she can rule. Perhaps because of the uncertainty of her past, Sapphire remains adamant that at least for now, she will make her own decisions about who will be granted access. She may bestow the privilege of petting her head or stroking her silken back, or she may withhold permission. Sapphire will do best in a quiet home with an experienced cat person who understands that her haughty bearing is simply her way of protecting herself against further heartbreak and that behind her imposing royal façade is an anxious cat who desperately wants to be loved and kept safe forever and ever.
If you would like to meet Sapphire and our other adult cats, please fill out the application at www.poainc.org.
