We are no longer putting cats on hold for a specific adopter. You do not need to choose a cat, but you do need to have an appointment. You will be able to meet available cats at your appointment.
Understated ebony elegance is probably an apt, concise description for four-year-old Shadow. His black, lustrous fur pairs with a sultry, glowing stare for a rather arresting presence looking out at you from the shadows where he waits. Unfortunately this handsome gentleman has been attempting to blend into the darkened recesses of his condo, trying to disappear back into his former life, which he misses dearly. Shadow had a home where he was a pampered panther and understandably happy, but unforeseen circumstances created a detour and he is now awaiting his next chapter with a measure of hesitancy that is easy to appreciate.
Since coming into our care Shadow has had a bit of a rough time. He doesn’t like the noise and unfamiliarity of the shelter. He also developed bladder stones and needed surgery to remove them. Luckily, there were no complications and Shadow has been started on a special diet to help ensure that there are no reoccurrences. We know that the worst is behind him. Shadow is trying to believe us.
Despite the air of detachment (a façade for his disappointment), Shadow can’t fool us. We see that he brings all the promise of a good and loving cat, one who has cohabitated with children, who values stability and structure, and who is happiest when he’s being spoiled rotten. All he needs is a glimmer of hope that the future will be as happy as the past and he will reemerge as regal and rewarding as he once was.
