We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats. You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters unless the adopter has an approved application and has already met the cat or kitten.
Judge Judy is FIV+. Despite what many people think, cats with this condition can live perfectly long, happy, healthy lives. The Feline Immunodeficiency Virus is a slow virus that affects a cat’s immune system over a period of years. FIV is a cat-only disease and cannot be spread to humans or other non-felines. FIV cats most often live long, healthy, and relatively normal lives with no symptoms at all. FIV is not easily passed between cats. It cannot be spread casually - like in litter boxes, water and food bowls, or when snuggling and playing. It is rarely spread from a mother to her kittens. FIV+ cats should be kept as healthy as possible. Keep them indoors and free from stress, feed them a high-quality diet, and treat any secondary problems as soon as they arise.
Two-year-old Judge Judy may look like she’s trying to decide on your guilt like her namesake might, (“Is the word stupid written across my forehead”), but nothing could be further from the truth. JJ, as she is generally referred to by the volunteers, is actually a quiet and hesitant girl.
JJ spent her first week pretty much huddled in her condo trying to figure out how things worked. Since then, she has gradually been summoning up her courage and exploring. She has a favorite cat tree that she likes to curl up in. She likes a churu. She’s happy to get some gentle petting. If there is chaos, JJ avoids it. She also avoids most of the other cats, but will share space contentedly with another gentle cat. The best word to describe her currently may be unobtrusive.
JJ doesn’t want to judge anyone and would hate the idea of being a television celebrity. She will probably never be the life of the party. She will likely always prefer cozy times to adventures. If you have a window seat, a novel, and a sunny spot for her, that would be JJ’s cup of tea. In fact, her vibe could best be described as a mug of Earl Grey tea living in a Blue Monster world.
JJ may be a cardigan in a world of Jimmy Choos but she likes it that way. If you can relate… if your idea of a perfect Saturday night and involves ordering in, binge watching your favorite show, and then climbing between the softest flannel sheets, JJ would like to make your acquaintance. You may be her soulmate.
