We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats. You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters unless the adopter has an approved application and has already met the cat or kitten.
This very dapper gentleman is two year-old Stache.
Stache was abandoned in a carrier outside. While we understand that the person who did that was probably feeling desperate, this is not only illegal, it is often dangerous for the cats. Where are sometimes able to get out of the carriers and run into traffic. They are not always found in time. And sometimes they injure themselves out of fear. Luckily, Stache was found before he was seriously injured with only a bruise on his nose likely from trying desperately to escape.
Stache was quite understandably very scared when he first arrived. But within a matter of a few days he has made himself at home. What does that mean? Well, for Stache it means exploring every inch of the place, including cabinets he’s supposed to stay out of. It means greeting everyone at the door, winding around their legs and asking for pets, and letting them know that they’re welcome. It also means meowing loudly if he feels like he is being unfairly ignored and staring beseechingly through the glass doors if you have the temerity to be in another room and have left him alone.
Stache has mastered the “lean”, where he presses into you purring. Sit on the floor on a blanket and he will join you in a matter of seconds. This is a cat that is going to want to sleep on the bed.
So far affection is more important than playing as far as Stache is concerned. But he is a young cat and we expect that to change as he starts feeling more comfortable. He has not been a fan of the other cats to date, and so far we are suggesting that he would be happiest as your one and only. We also think that he would prefer someone who is not gone for long periods. Someone who works from home or a couple or family or someone is home much of the time would be perfect for this handsome fellow.
