Artemis – FIV+

Name:  Artemis

Age:     1 year

Breed: DSH

Sex:  Female

We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats.  You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters.   Artemis is FIV+.
One year old Artemis looks a little bit like a classic cartoon cat- all long legs and crazy eyes. And that is fitting because we can see Artemis saying “Beep Beep” and then speeding off in a cloud of smoke like the Road Runner. Or muttering “Suffering Succotash” like Sylvester the cat when she is once again foiled in her attempts to capture the red dot from the laser light.
Found abandoned outside, Artemis can be a little nervous at first. But she cannot resist a toy and play is absolutely the way to her heart. In moments, she is batting cheerfully, convinced that this time she will succeed. And that never give up attitude is one of the things we like best about Artemis.
Artemis is fast and funny and full of light. Like the best cartoon characters, she is guaranteed to get into mischief, make you laugh and leave you shaking your head in wonder. But Artemis is also sweet and adorable, and when she tilts her head and peeps up at you, she will be forgiven everything.
Artemis has been good with the other respectful cats she has met. While it is early days, we suspect that she might like to have a partner in cat crime. Whether YOU can cope with a pair of felonious felines is another question entirely. But if you’re looking for someone to brighten your days, look no further.
To find out more or to make an appointment to meet the available cats, please start by filling out the application on our website. Our placement team will be in touch by email to answer your questions, tell you about the adoption process, and make you an appointment to meet all of the available cats. As always, if you are not looking to adopt right now, you can still help by spreading the word about Artemis.

FIV+ - Despite what many people think, cats with this condition can live perfectly long, happy, healthy lives. The Feline Immunodeficiency Virus is a slow virus that affects a cat’s immune system over a period of years. FIV is a cat-only disease and cannot be spread to humans or other non-felines. FIV cats most often live long, healthy, and relatively normal lives with no symptoms at all. FIV is not easily passed between cats. It cannot be spread casually - like in litter boxes, water and food bowls, or when snuggling and playing. It is rarely spread from a mother to her kittens. FIV+ cats should be kept as healthy as possible.  Keep them indoors and free from stress, feed them a high-quality diet, and treat any secondary problems as soon as they arise.

Adoptions are now done by appointment only. Email [email protected] for more info and an appointment. Adopters must have an approved application before scheduling an appointment.
