Olivia – One & Only

Name:  Olivia

Age:     5 years

Breed: DSH

Sex:  Female

We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats.  You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters.   Olivia would prefer to be the only cat in the home.  She does not enjoy the company of other cats.

Olivia definitely makes her own kind of music. Sometimes she sounds a little hissy, but don’t be fooled: she is simply expressing her views on life (one of which may be that if hissing bothers you, you should probably get a goldfish instead).
Actually, Olivia has a range of vocalizations because she believes that everyone should know what she thinks. For example, she may chirp to greet you, or she might grumble if she dislikes her food. She may meow a complaint if you fail to serve her in the manner she desires. She has rendered a stern hiss when an energetic kitten sought to visit without permission. On the other hand (paw?), Olivia has been known to render a purr of approval if you pet her head or brush her beautiful tiger-striped fur, but only if you do it the way she likes and you stop when she wishes. She has some strong opinions, Olivia does.
Then again, if you had her history, you would probably have strong opinions about the world, too. Five-year-old Olivia was left behind in an apartment when her people moved out. As a result, it’s taken her some time to decide that maybe not all humans are awful. In her early shelter days, Olivia was noted for her strident vocalizing which was likely meant to intimidate those who dared to approach. Alas for Olivia, shelter volunteers quickly realized that this adorable girl is all talk. She’ll make noise, but that’s where her tough-girl affect ends. Try though she might, Olivia can’t quite convince anyone that she’s fierce, especially when she’s rubbing up against them and following them around.
If a pseudo-tough girl who talks a lot is your idea of a delightful companion, we invite you to meet Olivia. To make an appointment to meet Olivia or any of the other available cats and kittens, please start by filling out the application on our website. Our placement team will be in touch by email to answer your questions, tell you about adoption process, and make an appointment for you. If you are not in a position to adopt at this time, or if Olivia isn’t the right match for you, you can still help by letting people know about her so that this talkative kitty can find her perfect forever home.

Adoptions are now done by appointment only. Email [email protected] for more info and an appointment. Adopters must have an approved application before scheduling an appointment.
