Introducing Chickie! She is a 7 year old Jack Russell Terrier/Dachshund mix (perhaps with some Chihuahua mixed in there for good measure!) and weighs 13lbs. Chickie came from her lifelong home where she lived with her parents and 5 siblings. She was extremely closely bonded to a sister, but was unfortunately separated from her after one of her owners passed away. Chickie has been learning to find her way without her partner in crime, but it has been a very tough journey, as she relied on her canine friend for her confidence. She came to us panicked, under-socialized, and terrified of even her own shadow. With patience and consistent handling, Chickie has slowly been gaining confidence and has been learning that the world is not a scary place. Chickie is just learning how to walk on a leash, but is finding that sniffing and exploring can be fun! She is also making progress on her housetraining. Chickie will need adopters experienced with fearful dogs - she is a project, but with time and patience, she will blossom into an amazing canine companion! Chickie's future home must have a securely fenced yard - she is an extremely skittish girl and is a flight risk. Chickie would love to be your one and only or pending introductions, she may do well sharing a home with a calm, confident dog to help show her the ropes. Due to her skittish nature, Chickie will need a quiet, adult-only home. Connecticut adopters preferred.
