This is Roxie!
Meet Roxie! She is a 3 year old Golden Retriever. Roxie comes from an unfortunate situation - she lived outside and was used for breeding purposes only. A good Samaritan was able to remove Roxie from that situation for a short time, however, due to failing health, she was no longer able to physically care for Roxie. Roxie is as sweet as pie and is a gorgeous girl! However, she is literally a 65lb, 3 year old energetic puppy, who has never learned any manners. Having spent her first 3 years living outdoors, she needs a patient family to teach her proper house manners and show her right from wrong. She is now crate trained and house trained, but leash walking is currently a work in progress. Roxie is a nervous girl, every experience new and uncertain to her like a young puppy, and will need adopters committed to helping socialize her and show her that the world is a fun, exciting place! Roxie will thrive in a home with another calm, confident large dog (she really enjoys their company). She shows signs of separation anxiety when left alone and will do best in a home where she is not left without human companionship for more than a few hours per day. Due to her size and rambunctious, puppy urge to jump up, Roxie should go into an adult home or one with older children. Roxie will need a home with a securely, physically fenced yard. Connecticut adopters only please! For more information about Roxie, please contact Michelle at michelle.p@poainc.org.
