The song Black Velvet was reportedly written about Elvis, but it could have been written about three-year-old Oakley. Oakley’s fur is as dark and soft as a starless summer night. When you start petting him, you won’t want to stop.
And Oakley won’t want you to stop either. He will melt, flopping down or curling against you. In fact, it is hard to get a photo of Oakley standing because as soon as you begin to pet him, he is in your arms or rolling around asking for more attention.
Found outside as a stray, Oakley was clearly someone’s cat once. He adores people. He loves attention. He was up front and center asking to meet everyone about five minutes after he arrived at Protectors of Animals. This is decidedly not a cat who plays hard to get. He may even greet you with a dog-like kiss before leaning into you and asking for love.
