We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats.  You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters.
Do a quick google search and you will find that an Aria is described as a self-contained, lyrical piece for a solo voice. With an Aria, the action or plot of an opera stops moving forward for a moment and the singer is able to share their thoughts and emotions.
Our Aria, estimated to be under two years old, may not know anything about opera but she might agree that she has been aptly named. Aria came to us in January because her person had far too many cats. Aria had already been a mother at least once, having had five kittens last year. Now spayed, Aria has made clear her desire to be a solo voice and a solo cat.
Self contained is also a good way to describe Aria when she arrived at Protectors of Animals. It isn’t that she doesn’t want attention, she absolutely does. It is that Aria is not quite sure if she can trust that attention. Sometimes she will lean into your petting hand. Sometimes she will back away. Occasionally, it may be all too much for her and she may even lash out. We watch her conflicted emotions and wish that she could tell us, in song or otherwise, her thoughts and emotions so that we could reassure her.
But one thing Aria is not conflicted about is play. Take out a wand toy or a laser light and Aria is in heaven! She runs. She spins. She hops in and out of her condo. Joyful is really the best way to describe Aria at play. We don’t know how many opportunities she had to play before she came to us. What we do know is that playing with Aria has turned out to be the best way to form a bond with her.
Aria is starting to let her guard down. She will accept a pet or two. She is starting to explore. She is ready for the plot to move forward again. She is ready for home of her own, one where she can learn to sing her own song.
