A cat named Axel probably conjures images of a grunge era tough guy. Our Axel, however, is a bit of an oxymoron - somewhat like a jumbo shrimp - as there isn't a whole lot of bravado or rugged swagger in this 7-year-old gentleman. He's more of a mellow fellow who hangs back and takes a moment to warm up in new situations due to his bashfulness.
Axel’s gentle demeanor and tender timidity have made him a volunteer favorite as there is a certain satisfaction felt when he relaxes and lets loose his deep, throaty purr. His relaxed contentment is contagious.
Another feature that makes Axel an unlikely candidate for his name is that he's not an alpha tomcat. He is pleased to share his space with another placid companion. Axel seems to enjoy defying expectations, but we anticipate he won't resist the opportunity for a calm and comfortable forever home.
