We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats. You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters.
Darius is FIV+.
Do you remember elementary school picture day? You would get dressed up in some outfit that you thought looked cool (but now makes you cringe) and smile. Later you would get a series of photos. And if you were anything like this volunteer, you would see that you looked increasingly weird and awkward in every single photo.
Three year old Darius can relate.
Darius is an absolute sweetheart. His foster mom and all of our volunteers rave about him. Friendly, affectionate, and 100% food motivated (we mean that - show up with a can of food and Darius will follow you anywhere), Darius is full of goofy charm. He will cheerfully roll around and show you his belly. He will give you a little head bunt. Or maybe a kiss. He will bat enthusiastically, if not terribly athletically, at a toy. And while still a little scruffy from his time outside living as a stray, Darius is also extremely cute.
But trying to get a picture that captures all of that cuteness has been a challenge. You see, Darius is too interested in everything that is going on around him to pose. He is too busy checking out the other cats, the people, the sounds… “Hey, wait a minute, does that guy have FOOD?” He is frowning because he wants to explore, not to be held… He is then forgiving us and asking for some petting while he- again- looks away from the camera, crosses his eyes, or turns away.
Darius is eager to please, but his interactive style doesn’t result in the best photos. It might, however, result in photos that show you exactly who Darius is… in all of his weird and wonderful glory. And just like those awkward fourth grade photos of you turned out to be your mom’s absolute favorites, you may find that these not so great photos of Darius are something you find endearing... that make you want to meet him… that make you think about taking him home. Darius certainly hopes so. And he hopes that if you come in to meet him you bring a snack.
