We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats. You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters.
Dusty was found outside, unneutered and miserable. He had skin issues, an eye infection, and terrible teeth. He is also believed to be about 12 years old, a veritable grandpa by community cat standards.
Dusty was someone’s cat once, but he had obviously been living rough for quite some time. We don’t know how many fights he has been in, but we suspect that he lost most of them. And with his teeth removed due to dental disease, we don’t know how he could survive many more fights.
But luckily Dusty won’t ever face that kind of future. He is safe at Protectors of Animals. He spent some time in one if our amazing foster homes, remembering what it is like to sleep on a soft bed, to eat food that doesn’t hurt his mouth, and to know only gentle touches. Now neutered and with his skin treated and dental care complete, he is at the shelter and is ready to go home and start the rest of his life.
Dusty has been fine with friendly and respectful cats. He still sometimes gives a warning hiss when people approach, but it is all an act. He tries to act like a tough guy. And he did have to be tough to survive outside. But Dusty is actually a sweetheart who melts when you pet him. Dusty has even started playing like a kitten again.
Dusty may be a grandpa by community cat standards but he has a lot of love to give. And he is ready to receive all of the love and pampering he has been missing.
