We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats. You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters. Enzo is in a foster home. Please let us know if you would like to meet him so we can arrange a special appointment. Enzo is not fond of other cats and needs to be your "one & only".
Four-year-old Enzo was abandoned. He is safe now, but you can still sometimes see the fear in his eyes. He has stopped jumping when the door of the shelter slams open or shut. He will come over for pets if a volunteer sits near his condo. But if it is loud, you will usually find him crouched behind his litter box.
We can see the question in Enzo‘s eyes, along with the fear. Enzo doesn’t know what he did to lead his people to abandon him. And the answer, of course, is that he did nothing wrong. He is a very good boy and we tell him that constantly. Maybe someday he will believe us.
Animals are abandoned every day when they’ve done nothing wrong. Maybe they got bigger, and their people only liked cute kittens and puppies. Maybe they got pregnant. Maybe they got sick. Maybe, not having been spayed or neutered, they started exhibiting the characteristics of an unsterilized cat. Or maybe their people were evicted or destitute or desperate and didn’t know what else to do.
In most cases, we will never know what led to a friendly cat being abandoned.
But we do know that Enzo is a good boy. He did nothing wrong. He deserves to be well taken care of. He deserves a forever home where he is valued and loved. He deserves to never feel unsafe again. He deserves to believe that he is a good boy.
If you feel like you can offer that kind of safety to Enzo, or to any of our other cats, please start by filling out the application on our website. Our placement team will be in touch by email to answer your questions, tell you about our adoption process, and make you an appointment to meet the available cats.
Adoptions are now done by appointment only. Email [email protected] for more info and an appointment. Adopters must have an approved application before scheduling an appointment.
