There have been many attempts to articulate that the devastation of loss is proportional to the degree of love; the stronger the bond, the more it hurts when the bond is severed. Five-year-old Roman knows this well. Roman was brought to Protectors of Animals when his owner could no longer afford to keep him. One of the many misfortunes of this world is that not all living arrangements allow the cohabitation of people with their pets, and Roman's person faced the impossible choice of a home or a best friend. Roman was given to us in love, having known love his entire life. He remains someone's beloved friend and is hoping for the double good fortune of being adored twice within his life.
Having known one individual and a particular routine his entire life, Roman is initially hesitant at the shelter. Scared, even. Everything is new and loud. He wishes for a quiet home, with someone who is calm, reassuring and gentle. Someone like his last person. In exchange for stability and patience, Roman will offer all the love he has to give, which we know is no small amount.
