We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats. You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters.
Looking for a buddy? Meet Hank!
Three-year-old Hank was abandoned when his family moved away. Luckily, a neighbor got him safely to Protectors of Animals. But not before Hank had a little bit of trauma. Life isn’t great for cats outside, especially males who have not been neutered. Other cats see them as a threat, and fighting over food and mates is common. Hank appears to have lost most of those fights. As a result, Hank came to us with in January with several wounds and a damaged ear. But his spirit and his love for people was intact.
Hank spent almost 2 months in one of our amazing foster homes. He caught up on his sleep and got good nutrition. He got neutered. He healed, both physically and emotionally. And now Hank is at the shelter ready for the next step in his journey.
Hank likes people. Despite everything that happened to him, he wants to be your friend. He will follow you around. He may sit on your lap, although he will likely hop up again pretty quickly to check things out.
With Hank, you may never go to the bathroom again without company. And we can guarantee you’ll never make dinner without company, because Hank is very food motivated. Give him a snack and he will follow you anywhere. But honestly, just speak sweetly to him and he will be your new best friend.
With cats, it’s been a little bit more of a mixed bag. Some cats like Hank (and he likes them right back). But others have been more aggressive with him and he does not tolerate that. Knowing what happened to him outside, we understand. So for now we are saying that Hank would do fine as your one and only or can share space with a respectful, low-key cat.
But while we say that Hank can share space with another cat, we aren’t saying that he needs another cat to be happy. So far Hank has been all about the people, the snacks and the comfort. So if you are looking for a buddy for your cat, you may want to keep looking. But if you are looking for your new best friend, you are going to want to ask to meet Hank.
To find out more, please fill out the application on our website. Our placement team will be in touch to tell you about the adoption process, answer your questions, and make you an appointment. Hank is FIV+ but that does not mean he can’t live a long and healthy life. Our placement team will be happy to provide more information.
Adoptions are now done by appointment only. Email [email protected] for more info and an appointment. Adopters must have an approved application before scheduling an appointment.
