In Greek mythology, Hydra represents resilience and persistence. Little kitten Hydra was born the runt of the litter and was absolutely tiny creating much worry in her foster home about how something so small could survive.  Like her namesake she persisted and didn’t give up. She was actually named after the constellation, Hydra. Her eight siblings were also named after constellations as was her mom.  Her litter tied the shelter record meaning that there were eight other kittens, larger and stronger than her to fight over nursing space. With the help from supplemental bottle feedings from her foster family, she continued to grow daily, even if it was only a few grams.  Now she’s just working on growing into her large ears but the rest of her is strong and solid. She constantly starts wrestling matches with her siblings, despite her smaller stature. Then uses her cuteness to meow her way to safety if things get out of hand during wrestlemania. While you can’t tell in the photos, Hydra is actually not completely a black cat.  She has big spots of white on her chest and belly.  Though with her fellow siblings she is outgoing and active, she still gets intimidated by large humans towering over her. Going down to her level and enticing her with toys is the fastest way to become best buds. She loves her sister Cassiopeia (Cassie) and would do great adopted with her.  Hydra has met many visitors including young children but prefers a quieter household. She likes to be the one making the ruckus and noise!  Her choices of toys are unique in that she prefers crumbled up paper, pens/pencils to swat across the floor and orange peels over the plethora of standard cat toys she has daily access to. She sneaks up and pounces on orange peels and even grabs it in her mouth and runs around the room playing keep-away from her curious siblings who wonder what orange prey their tiny sister has caught.  Hydra is cute, full of curiosity and energy and ready to find her forever home!
