We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats.  You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters.

Two-year-old Lady Mae perhaps falls into the misunderstood category, which is an unfortunate place to spend one’s life. To be misunderstood is accompanied by feelings of frustration and rejection because you’re showing the world who you are, what you like, and the world isn’t hearing or accepting the message. Instead, people want to fix you. Or worse, they want to abandon you.

Lady Mae came to us from a local animal control group. Her backstory includes an incident where she was tossed from a vehicle, and we know little more than that she didn’t deserve such mistreatment. No one does. What we do know is that Lady Mae comes with a lot of energy. We prefer to call her zesty, but potential adopters should know that this is a busy girl. She is often on the move, patrolling her territory, and if not offered the appropriate outlets for her busyness, she can grow restless. She also prefers to be independent of other felines. They interfere with her routines and sense of security, and we therefore recommend Lady Mae be the only cat in the household.

Lady Mae will also need an adopter who is patient and accepting. Given her past, this girl doesn’t have a lot of reasons to trust people. She needs to be convinced over time that people are reliable and gentle. That they won’t abandon her when she shares her preferences and natural instincts. That they are willing to understand her if she is willing to show them who she is. In a home where these conditions are met, chances are that Lady Mae will flourish and eventually mellow as the need for continual surveillance lessons and is replaced by comforting confidence.
