“This is looking like a contest
Of who can act like they care less
But I liked it better when you were on my side
The battle's in your hands now
But I would lay my armor down
If you said you'd rather love than fight”
~The Story of Us (Taylor’s Version)
Two year old Mishi is looking to lay her armor down but isn't exactly sure how. A mother at only a year, given up with her kittens before she was two, Mishi has ample reason not to wear her heart on her sleeve… erm, paw. So perhaps it isn't surprising that when she first arrived at Protectors of Animals Mishi either lashed out at us or hid. (Her favorite spot is amongst the towels and blankets. We suspect that Mishi has been looking for a little softness for most of her life).
We can see that Mishi wants to trust. She is trying so hard. And she IS making progress. She likes to chase the laser (but is heartbreakingly afraid of most other toys). She likes to greet our volunteers, winding around their legs to say hello. Nowadays you might find her curled up on a little cart in our cat room, separate but still wanting to be a part of things. Pet her and Mishi may even climb into your lap, snuggling in before becoming overwhelmed.
We see so much potential in Mishi. We also know that Mishi would likely progress much faster in a home of her own. Mishi needs someone who will be on her side… an experienced cat person who understands that she can get overstimulated… a person who loves her, not in spite of her complicated nature but because of it.
If you think you might be that person or if you have questions about Mishi, please fill out the application at www.poainc.org or contact our placement team at POAplacement@gmail.com. If Mishi is not a match for you, please consider spreading the word so that her person can find her.
