Lovely Naomi wants only to love you, and for you to love her in return. At just 1.5 years old, she’s a doll of a cat who is sweet and affectionate and decidedly loving with people. First, however, she’s going to make you work.
Even though Naomi wants full-blown attention and affection, her default in new situations is to hide. She’ll turtle herself beneath her bed, trying to disappear. She’ll seek a concealed space in which to vanish until she’s ready. Found abandoned outside, the behavior is likely a defense mechanism to prevent disappointment. The old “you can’t reject me if I reject you first” routine.
But an adopter who won’t take things personally, will be rewarded because Naomi soon thaws out and drops the act. She’s done so at the shelter and we’re confident she’ll do the same in her forever home where all the attention will be hers, and the relationship she forges will be lifelong. If a sweet, person-oriented cat is the perfect cat for you, and you’re willing to turn a blind eye to the skittish introductory phase, Naomi is waiting for you to convince her that her days of dejection are behind her.
