We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats.  You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters.
Black opals are considered rare, found only in several places worldwide. We think our Opal (who is a black-coated beauty) is also a rare gem.
Originally picked up as part of a trap, neuter, return program, volunteers soon realized that one-and-a-half-year-old Opal was a friendly lass who wasn’t suited to life on the streets, fending for herself. Further, she dislikes other cats which makes an existence as a member of a feral cat colony a poor fit. What Opal really wanted was to be someone’s friend and a cherished housecat. Now transferred to Protectors of Animals from the group that saved her, Opal is making her case: Convivial Cat Craves Non-Cat Companionship.
Opal is affable and she wants everyone to know it. She purrs upon contact. She seeks a dining partner when she sits down to a meal, hoping people will linger and keep her company. She enjoys the nearness and comfort of people.
Hair loss from a treated skin lesion has left a bald patch on Opal’s chin which, surrounded by her coal-black fur, looks like the Cheshire Cat’s mysterious smile. This only adds to her charm.
If you have a place in your home for a cat who doesn’t like other cats but who will offer you her warmest regards and appreciation, Opal would love to meet you.
