Reuben - Protectors of Animals

We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats. You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters.

If six year old Reuben could talk, he would probably say that he would like a little attention, please. In fact, Reuben manages to get his message across pretty clearly without words.

When staying in his foster home, Reuben didn’t like being left in their foster room (a spare bedroom) alone overnight. We are told that he howled until his foster mom came in and laid on the bed with him. Then he curled against her, purring, and went immediately to sleep. He just needed to know someone was there with him.

This isn’t to say that Reuben can’t amuse himself. He can. He likes to explore. He enjoys chasing a spring toy around (although a laser light is his absolute favorite). He may even be happy to sprawl out in the middle of your floor and take a nap while you do whatever human things you need to be doing.

But Reuben, who was found abandoned outside, craves comfort, closeness, and connection with his people. If you are working from home, he is going to hop up on your desk to see what’s going on. If you are making dinner, he is going to be underfoot- checking out what you are making. And at night he wants…. no, he needs… to be right next to you in bed.

If you are looking for diffident, independent, and standoffish, Reuben isn’t the cat for you.
