We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats. You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters. Rhea would prefer to be the only cat in the home. She does not enjoy the company of other cats.
Two-year-old Rhea is a sweet lady with an independent streak. Some cats labeled independent are disengaged, preferring their own company to that of others. Rhea’s independence is about creating reassurances for herself – validating that things are safe and comfortable before she goes all in. You might say her motto is “trust but verify”.
At the shelter, with its bustle and novelty, Rhea likes to survey from the tops of the cat condos, watching and waiting until she understands and can predict what will happen next. She’s not a cat that likes surprises, which makes her an ideal candidate for an adopter who enjoys a quieter lifestyle with regular routines and expectations.
Rhea will fit right in to such a life. She might always prefer a few moments to evaluate her surroundings and remind herself that things are as she left them, but with predictability we suspect her independence will soften and form a loving dependence on her person and the security of a home to call her own.
