We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats. You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters. Rocky is in a foster home. Please let us know if you would like to meet him so we can arrange for him to come into the adoption center.
Eight-year-old Rocky got his name due to his rocky start in life (being thrown from a car!) and the extensive dental and medical treatment he required when he arrived at the shelter. But much like the character played by Sly Stallone in the movies, Rocky is a fighter (and just as handsome to boot!). He was stressed by the commotion of the shelter, but once he arrived at his foster mom's house, he immediately displayed his soft side. He's a snuggly lovebug who just wants to be pet and will reward you with the loudest purr ever! He isn't really interested in play time, preferring to sit near his foster mom while she reads a book. Like many middle-aged chaps, he prefers a quieter, calmer environment, and, due to how stressed he was in the shelter, should probably be a one and only kitty. If you're looking for a handsome, easy-going companion who loves people, look no further!
Seven year old Rocky looks a little rough in some of these photos. We know that. And there is a good reason. Rocky has not had an easy life so far. We are told that he was abandoned in a dumpster as a kitten. (Who does that?) He was saved and ultimately taken in by someone who had loads of love to offer but very little in the way of resources.
Rocky had some skin issues. He needed dental care. He needed to lose weight. He appeared to be overgrooming out of stress. In short, he was a mess. He was also sweet and loving and would press his head against you, purring loudly and asking for comfort. How could we say no?
We didn't.
Rocky has had his dental work completed and is healing. His skin issues seem to be resolving. His fur is getting thicker and healthier. We would like to say that he is losing weight but since our volunteers keep slipping him treats, we are not sure that this is true. What is true is that Rocky needs someone who will take him in and offer him unceasing love and care. He promises to be a loyal and loving companion. And he deserves a future that is not as rough as his past.
We think he is perfect. And if you think he is perfect for you, please fill out the application at www.poainc.org and ask to meet the available cats. If you already have an approved application, you can simply e-mail poaplacement@gmail.com.
