We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats. You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters. Stella will be meeting adopters on Saturday 3/7.
Four year-old Stella is active and playful and very social. She is good with kids and loves adults. She’s even a lap cat on her terms- meaning that she likes to hop into to your lap for a quick cuddle, but then may quickly hop out to go and explore or play.
Of course, this doesn’t mean she’s always on the move. Stella loves a good long nap and one of her favorite activities is watching the birds from her favorite cat tree. Stella also loves her food. Perhaps a little bit too much, as a recent vet visit resulted in a recommendation to keep an eye on the treats. (As you can see by this photo Stella is not amused by that suggestion.)
Stella was adopted from Protectors of Animals as a kitten. Her family loves her very much, but their other cat does not. There was always an age and activity level difference, but they made it work. Now, however, the other cat is getting older, and Stella still wants to pounce and chase. Stella is playing and means no harm, but the other cat is getting stressed and has developed some physical issues because of that.
Stella needs more activity to be healthy. Their other cat needs a quieter, calmer home. This situation isn’t good for anyone. So the family reached out after making the heartbreaking decision that Stella should be rehomed for the sake of both cats. (No unkind comments will be tolerated. This was a truly heartbreaking decision. It is being made in the interest of both cats and they are willing to keep Stella as long as it takes for us to find her the right home).
What is the right home? Stella will thrive in a home where she can be encouraged to run and jump and chase her cat toys (and then nap and watch the squirrels while you work). She would love to greet you at the door and hang around (usually underfoot) while you make dinner. Stella might even like a few older kids to play with!
If Stella sounds perfect for you, please fill out the application on our website and please mention Stella by name as special arrangements will need to be made to meet her. Our placement team will reach out by email to answer your questions, tell you about the adoption process and make arrangements for you to meet Stella. And if you are not looking to adopt right now, you can still lend a hand, by spreading the word about her.
Adoptions are now done by appointment only. Email [email protected] for more info and an appointment. Adopters must have an approved application before scheduling an appointment.
