We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats. You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters.
Three-year-old Tillie was found outside. She had apparently been abandoned while pregnant and had recently had four kittens. A kindly neighbor looked after Tillie and her kittens until they could be brought to us.
The kittens are now weaned and in a foster home. Tillie was also in a foster home, but is now spayed, vaccinated, and in the shelter looking for her forever home. Lots of changes for Tillie! Most of them good changes, but nonetheless bewildering. With so many changes it is no surprise that Tillie sometimes seems a little bit lost.
But here is what we know: Tillie is a softly rounded, plush little lady who quietly soaks up attention like a sponge. Tillie is a total love. She just needs a little time and a lot of reassurance. Tillie loves to snuggle into a cozy bed. She leans into your petting hand, looking up at you with shining eyes. Without saying a word, Tillie tells you everything that she is feeling.
Tillie has also begun to show us that she is a mighty huntress- batting fiercely (if ineffectively) at a wand toy. While she remains nervous about new things, Tillie has started to become more curious about the world around her. She’s not a super high energy cat, and is unlikely to ever be a true daredevil, but we expect that Tillie’s adopter will enjoy a little cat mischief now and again.
Every day we see new signs of the spectacular cat Tillie is going to be as her wounded spirit heals. Will she be reserved at first? Almost certainly. Will she hide in a new place? Probably. Will she reward the person who gives her the time to settle in with endless purrs, playful pounces, and more love and loyalty than any cat would be expected to offer? Well, as the Magic Eightball on this volunteer’s desk is wont to say, “signs point to yes”.
Tillie is waiting patiently for you because that is who she is. But why would you want to make her wait? More importantly, why would you want to wait a second longer than you have to? The first step to meeting lovely Tillie is to fill out the application on our website. Our placement volunteers will be in touch via email to answer your questions, walk you through our process, and set up an appointment for you to meet the available cats and kittens. And as always, if you are not in a place to adopt right now or if Tillie is not a good match for you, you can still help by spreading the word about her so that she can find her perfect home.
