We are scheduling appointments for adopters to come in and meet our available cats. You do not need to choose a specific cat and we are not placing cats on hold for specific adopters.
If you’ve ever watched Kiki’s Delivery Service you might suspect that we have stolen Jiji. Nope. This is one year old Viola. And while we are sure she is not a witch’s familiar (okay, we are at least pretty sure), we think that Viola would adore being someone’s boon companion.
Viola was shy at first, but she has really come into her own in the last week or two. She explores. She chases springs- and sometimes ghosts or at least things we cannot see. She zips around the shelter on important missions that she does not choose to share with us. We are fine with that. Viola is having fun and that is a joy to behold.
But that doesn’t mean that Viola won’t stop to ask her favorite volunteers for some snuggles. Viola enjoys people and affection. When she is nervous, she knows to see reassurance from the nearest human. And can she ever purr up a storm!
With cats, Viola is more of a work in progress. She originally let us know that she disliked all of them. But as she’s gotten to know the cats a little bit better and has started feeling safer, there are a few that she tolerates, if not enjoys. We think Viola would probably be happiest as your one and only, but she could probably coexist comfortably with one other cat who gives her space. Cats who get up in her grill or want a best friend need not apply. Best friend status for Viola is reserved for her person.
If you love an effervescent black cat or are looking for your own familiar, please fill out the application on our website and ask to meet Viola. If you are not looking to adopt right now or if Viola would not be a good fit for your home, please consider spreading the word about her. We love having her, but she is ready for her forever home.
Adoptions are now done by appointment only. Email [email protected] for more info and an appointment. Adopters must have an approved application before scheduling an appointment.
