Meet Ernie
Ernie is something else. He’s 70lbs of zest for life and wants you to know all about it. Coming home to Ernie will be a boisterous welcome. While he’ll be sure to listen about how your day went, he really wants the focus to come back to him 🙂
Ernie is a 1 year old, housetrained, and will nudge at the door to indicate it’s time to go out. He loves his stuffy toys like they’re his babies and won’t destroy them. Ernie has a funny habit of tossing his toys into the air for himself to catch. He enjoys a squeaker and will nibble but won’t rip them up. He knows which items are his toys and which household items are off limits. Ernie goes to town on bully sticks and other chew toys which is important for an adolescent pup.
Speaking of adolescent pups, they are busy! Ernie needs a doggie daycare to really stretch his legs and get his zoomies out, or a jog, or a fenced yard to go wild in. After that need is met Ernie is happy to find soft blankets and pillows on a sofa if you’ll allow it.
Training Ernie is fairly easy because he’s very smart and quick to recognize patterns. He’s eager to please and treat motivated. Training will be provided as a part of his adoption. We know that Ernie was abused with a shock collar before coming to POA. Patience is a must for his new family. He will take time to trust that you have his best interest at heart. Children can make him nervous so an adult-only home would be ideal. We are asking for CT residents only.
