Codi came to us earlier this year as a 6 month old Boston Terrier/Pitbull puppy who had been hit by a car. At the Emergency Vet, x-rays showed a fractured right hind leg. Fortunately, it was a clean break that would not require surgery, but instead would require lots of rest and weekly cast changes. Trying to keep a high energy puppy on restricted activity and from chewing off his cast was an enormous undertaking to say the least. Codi’s foster family patiently kept him on physical “light duty” while keeping his mind exercised and enriched for 8 weeks while he was casted, and for an additional 4 weeks once the cast was removed. Codi was so excited to no longer have physical restrictions, but now needed to get over his severe fear of moving cars (understandable given how he was injured). His foster mom worked tirelessly with our trainer and such progress was made. When all was said and done, Codi’s veterinary care and training sessions cost $2000, but the outcome was worth it. He was a happy-go-lucky boy who could now run like the wind. Codi patiently waited and his wish came true. Now named Teddy, this sweet boy has found his forever home where there is no shortage of adventures, walks, hikes, and attention (he is very busy sharing in shenanigans with his three human siblings.)
