This is Zoe Jane!

Meet Sweet Zoe Jane (any Aaron Lewis fans out there?). She is a 10 year old Dachshund/Shetland Sheepdog mix and is hands-down the SWEETEST dog you will ever meet! Zoe Jane was taken in by a couple after learning that her owner was sadly keeping her crated all of the time. Unfortunately, they needed to relocate and were unable to bring her with them.

We quickly discovered that Zoe Jane has weakness in her back legs, has an awkward gait, and plops down into a sitting position after walking 10-15 feet. After a thorough veterinary evaluation, she was found to have degenerative discs in her spine (a very common issue in long-backed breed dogs). However, Zoe Jane definitely doesn't let this slow her down! She gets around inside and outside on her own without a wheelchair, although she recently recieved a custom-fit set of wheels and soon will be zooming along at a fast clip with them! As far as Zoe Jane is concerned, she does not think that there is anything wrong with her! She just wants to go, go, go on her walks, sniffing and exploring the outside world.

Zoe Jane is super friendly, extraordinarily sweet, and LOVES human affection and attention. She is quite content to take a nap in a sunbeam, hang out with her family on the couch, or be outside exploring the great outdoors (she would ADORE having an adopter that is retired or works from home as she just CRAVES being with her people). Zoe Jane gets along with other dogs and wouldn't mind a canine roomie or two. She has decide, however, that she does not want to share her home with cats. She would consider a home with respectful children 12 years of age or older. If you have room in your heart for this exceptional, gorgeous girl, please contact Michelle at michelle.p@poainc.org.
